Age Of Empires 3 Windows 10 Compatibility
Fix Age of Empires 3 Complete edition (? Other editions unknown) for Win 10 / Win 10 Pro x64 Start - Settings (weel)- Apps - Apps & features - Turn Windows features on / off - Legacy Components - DirectPlay (Turn on and your done). Windows 7 and age of empires III compatibility issue I have installed Age of Empires III and it runs with my windows 7 ultimate, but in the homescreen and game there are severe graphic distortions and I can't play the game. I have tried changing the compatibility to run the game for windows vista, xp, etc. But nothing works.
It is an error when I tried to play my Age of Empires III game in Windows 10. I have the game which is installed on Steam platform. It is an old game, which is released 11 years ago, or 2005. I played it on Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows 7. Now I installed it on Windows 10. It gave me an error and closed.
I checked and fixed the error with two steps.
Step 1. The error of compatible mode.
I located the executive files and change the properties. age3y.exe
It is located on Steam library. Mine is D:steam-games. So the files are in d:steam-gamessteamappscommonage of empires 3bin
Right click on the file and choose properties, click Compatibility tab, make sure choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3) Compatibility mode and choose Run this program as an administrator.
Step 2. Install Directplay in Windows 10
Right click Start, choose Programs and Features, Click Turn Windows features on or off.
Make sure there is a checkmark in Legacy Components, click the + to expand, check the box for DirectPlay.
It may ask for rebooting.
After these two steps, the game can run properly on Windows 10.
It solved the problem of DirectPlay 0x80071A90. And also solved the problem of the Age of Empires 3 on Windows 10.
